Description

For the White Queso Dip:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small white onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz white American cheese, cubed
  • 4 oz Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped cilantro and diced tomatoes for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced onion and jalapeño and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in the milk and heavy cream, bringing the mixture just to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat to low, then add the white American cheese and Monterey Jack cheese gradually, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  5. Stir in the diced green chiles and cumin.
  6. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Keep warm until ready to serve and garnish with chopped cilantro and diced tomatoes if desired.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or use hot green chiles.
  • You can thin the dip with more milk if needed.
