Description

These Tuna Melt Grilled Sandwiches are a classic favorite for a quick and satisfying lunch. With creamy tuna salad and melted cheese sandwiched between crispy bread slices, this recipe is sure to become a go-to comfort food option.

Ingredients

Scale

Tuna Salad:

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water (drained)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped celery (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Sandwich Assembly:

  • 4 slices of sandwich bread
  • 4 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, mix together the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, red onion, celery if using, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Assemble Sandwiches: Spread the tuna mixture evenly onto two slices of bread. Top each with two slices of cheese, then place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches.
  3. Grill Sandwiches: Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  4. Serve: Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use sourdough, rye, or whole wheat bread for variety.
  • Add a slice of tomato or a few pickle chips for extra flavor.
  • For a crispier crust, press down lightly with a spatula while grilling.
