Tuna Salad:
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water (drained)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped celery (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Sandwich Assembly:
- 4 slices of sandwich bread
- 4 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
Instructions
- Prepare Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, mix together the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, red onion, celery if using, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Spread the tuna mixture evenly onto two slices of bread. Top each with two slices of cheese, then place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches.
- Grill Sandwiches: Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve: Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.
