Description

These Thai Chicken Bites are flavorful, bite-sized pieces of chicken marinated in a tangy and savory blend of soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, lime juice, and spices. Stir-fried to golden perfection and garnished with fresh cilantro and crunchy peanuts, they make for a delicious appetizer or snack packed with authentic Thai flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Marinade

  • 500 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 red chili, finely chopped (optional for spice)

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Garnish and Serving

  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
  • Chopped peanuts for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped red chili. Stir thoroughly to blend all ingredients into a flavorful marinade.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Add the bite-sized chicken pieces into the marinade. Mix to ensure every piece is well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the chicken absorb the robust flavors.
  3. Heat the oil: Place a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and pour in the vegetable oil. Allow the oil to heat up until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Cook the chicken: Add the marinated chicken pieces in batches into the hot skillet, avoiding overcrowding. Stir-fry the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes, turning frequently, until the pieces are cooked through and nicely browned on the outside.
  5. Plate the chicken: Once cooked, transfer the chicken bites onto a serving plate, ensuring all pieces are drained of excess oil.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh cilantro leaves and chopped peanuts over the chicken bites for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side to squeeze over before eating for a vibrant finish.

Notes

  • Marinating the chicken for longer than 30 minutes, up to 2 hours, will enhance the flavor even more.
  • You can omit the red chili if you prefer a milder dish.
  • Serve with steamed jasmine rice or as an appetizer alongside a dipping sauce for a complete meal.
  • Use peanut oil instead of vegetable oil for a more authentic Thai aroma.
  • Ensure the chicken pieces are cut evenly for uniform cooking.
