Ground Beef Mixture:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley or basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ground beef: In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Prepare the meat mixture: Add pizza sauce, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Layer the casserole: Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish. Add pepperoni, cheeses, tater tots, and remaining pepperoni.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until tater tots are crispy.
- Serve: Let it rest, garnish with parsley or basil, then serve.
