Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 2 ½ cups crushed pretzels
- 3/4 cup salted butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
Jello Layer
- 1 box (6 ounces) strawberry Jello
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 to 2 containers (16 ounces each) fresh strawberries, sliced
Cream Cheese Layer
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and light brown sugar. Mix well until the pretzel crumbs are evenly coated. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, then carefully remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
- Make the jello layer: In a large bowl, dissolve the strawberry Jello powder in 2 cups of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved. Add the sliced fresh strawberries into the mixture. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and chill until the jello is partially set, which should take about 2 hours.
- Prepare the cream cheese layer: While the jello chills, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip to create a light, fluffy mixture. Spread this creamy layer evenly over the completely cooled pretzel crust, making sure to cover it entirely to prevent the jello from leaking through.
- Assemble the dessert: Once the jello mixture is partially set, carefully pour it over the cream cheese layer. Cover the pan with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 3 to 4 hours until the jello is completely firm and set.
- Serve: After the dessert has fully chilled, cut it into squares and serve. Enjoy the perfect combination of salty pretzel crust, creamy filling, and sweet strawberry topping!
Notes
- For best results, allow the pretzel crust to cool completely before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
- Ensure the jello is partially set before pouring over the cream cheese to keep distinct layers.
- You can adjust the amount of strawberries based on your preference for more or less fruit.
- Use a sharp knife dipped in hot water to cut clean squares of the salad.
- This dessert is best served chilled and should be kept refrigerated until ready to serve.
