Description

Indulge in the savory delight of a Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli, a delicious twist on the classic sandwich. This hearty dish features tender ribeye steak, sautéed onions, bell peppers, and gooey cheese, all wrapped in a golden-brown crust. Perfect for a cozy dinner or game day treat!

Ingredients

Dough:

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Filling:

1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 small onion thinly sliced, 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced, 8 ounces thinly sliced ribeye steak or roast beef, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, 1½ cups shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella)

Finishing Touches:

1 egg beaten (for egg wash), sesame seeds or Italian seasoning for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions and bell peppers until soft. Add steak, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; cook until meat is no longer pink. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle.
  4. Add Filling: Spread the cooled steak mixture over the dough, leaving a border. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  5. Roll Up: Roll the dough into a log, pinching to seal. Transfer to baking sheet, seam-side down.
  6. Finish: Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds or seasoning. Make slits on top. Bake until golden brown. Cool, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone.
  • Swap in mushrooms or banana peppers for a flavor twist.
