Cake Layers:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Cream Filling:
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Topping (optional):
- Powdered sugar or a thin layer of melted chocolate
Instructions
- Make the cake layers: In a saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and honey. Whisk in eggs, then add baking soda dissolved in warm milk. Gradually mix in flour and divide into 4 parts. Roll out each portion and bake until golden.
- Make the filling: Whisk together sugar, cornstarch, flour, and egg yolk in a saucepan. Gradually add milk, cook until thickened, then stir in vanilla and butter.
- Assemble the cake: Layer cake and filling, refrigerate for at least 8 hours. Dust with powdered sugar or melted chocolate before serving.
