Description

This Irresistible Caribbean Jerk Shrimp recipe brings a burst of flavor with a perfect balance of spices and a touch of sweetness. Juicy shrimp marinated in a blend of Caribbean-inspired seasonings, grilled to perfection, and garnished with fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Jerk Marinade:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons allspice
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh cilantro or green onions

Instructions

  1. Jerk Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, and all the spices to create the jerk marinade. Add the shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes.
  2. Cooking the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp in a single layer for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Do not overcook. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions.
  3. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • This shrimp is delicious served over rice, in tacos, or with a tropical fruit salsa.
  • For extra heat, add minced Scotch bonnet pepper to the marinade.
