Description

This Honey Butter Chicken recipe features tender, crispy chicken thigh chunks coated in a flavorful honey butter sauce with hints of garlic, onion, and tangy apple cider vinegar. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal, this dish balances sweet and savory flavors with a rich buttery finish, making it a delightful poultry option for any dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 1.3lb / 600g boneless skinless Chicken Thigh, diced into large bite sized chunks
  • 1/3 cup / 50g Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

Cooking and Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/3 cup / 110g Honey
  • 5 tbsp / 75g / 2.6oz Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Coat the Chicken: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss the diced chicken thigh pieces in this mixture ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated with the seasoned flour for an even, flavorful crust.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted and hot, add the coated chicken pieces. Fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side, ensuring the chicken is cooked through.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, reduce the heat to low and melt 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in the honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer gently for a few minutes until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together, stirring occasionally to combine thoroughly.
  4. Combine and Serve: Add the fried chicken back to the pan with the sauce. Toss well to coat every piece in the rich honey butter sauce. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy this deliciously sticky, sweet, and savory chicken dish.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a more tender and juicy result compared to chicken breasts.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to taste if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet sauce.
  • Keep an eye on the sauce as it simmers to prevent burning due to the sugar in honey.
  • For extra crispiness, double coat the chicken by dipping it in beaten egg before the flour mixture.
  • Serve with steamed rice or fresh vegetables for a complete meal.
