Description

Delight in these rich, homemade chocolate bars crafted from pure cocoa butter and cocoa powder, sweetened naturally with powdered sugar or maple syrup. Perfectly customizable with your favorite nuts, dried fruits, or shredded coconut, these bars are a wholesome treat that combines smooth texture with intense chocolate flavor, all set easily in your fridge.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup cocoa butter, chopped
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (or cacao powder for raw chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar or maple syrup (for sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Add-Ins

  • Chopped nuts
  • Dried fruit
  • Shredded coconut
  • Sea salt

Instructions

  1. Melt Cocoa Butter: Set up a double boiler or place a heatproof bowl over a saucepan filled with simmering water. Add the chopped cocoa butter and stir continuously until it melts smoothly without lumps.
  2. Mix Chocolate Ingredients: Remove the bowl from heat and whisk in the unsweetened cocoa powder, powdered sugar or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir vigorously until the mixture is fully combined and silky in texture.
  3. Pour into Molds: Pour the prepared chocolate mixture evenly into silicone chocolate bar molds or a parchment-lined baking dish, ensuring smooth surfaces for even setting.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle your chosen add-ins such as chopped nuts, dried fruits, shredded coconut, or a light sprinkle of sea salt over the chocolate surface. Gently press them into the mixture to help them adhere.
  5. Chill to Set: Place the molds or baking dish in the refrigerator and let the chocolate set for 1 to 2 hours until firm and solid.
  6. Unmold and Serve: Once fully set, carefully pop the chocolate bars out of the silicone molds or slice into bars if set in a dish.
  7. Store Properly: Keep the chocolate bars in an airtight container at room temperature for a softer texture or refrigerate for a firmer bite.

Notes

  • Using raw cacao powder instead of cocoa powder keeps the chocolate raw and preservers antioxidants.
  • Maple syrup can be adjusted for sweetness but may slightly soften the chocolate texture compared to powdered sugar.
  • Be careful not to overheat the cocoa butter; melt it gently to maintain its quality and flavor.
  • Ensure mixture cools slightly before pouring to avoid warping silicone molds.
  • These chocolate bars do not contain preservatives, so consume within 2 weeks for best freshness.
