For the Cake:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons milk
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Prepare the Apple Filling: Cook apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until caramelized. Set aside.
- Make the Cake: Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream and milk. Layer batter and apple filling in pan.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm cake.
