  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons milk

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling: Cook apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until caramelized. Set aside.
  3. Make the Cake: Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream and milk. Layer batter and apple filling in pan.
  4. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm cake.
