Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 large round sourdough bread loaf

Garlic Herb Butter Mixture

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Filling

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked spinach (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed bread.
  2. Prepare Bread: Slice the top off the sourdough bread loaf to create a lid and set it aside.
  3. Hollow Bread: Carefully hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving about 1-inch thick walls around the edge to form a bread bowl.
  4. Make Garlic Herb Butter: In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
  5. Apply Butter Mixture: Generously brush the garlic herb butter mixture over the interior of the hollowed bread and on the inside of the lid.
  6. Layer Filling: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and cooked spinach evenly inside the bread bowl.
  7. Replace Lid: Place the bread lid back on top of the filled loaf, sealing it.
  8. Wrap Bread: Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake Covered: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese has melted.
  10. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add other herbs such as oregano or basil to the butter mixture.
  • The cooked spinach is optional but adds a nice touch of color and nutrients.
  • Serve warm for the best gooey cheese experience.
  • This bread is best enjoyed the same day it’s prepared for optimal freshness and texture.
  • To reheat leftovers, wrap in foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
