Description

Indulge in the rich, decadent flavor of Dark Chocolate Strawberry Jam. This homemade jam combines the sweetness of fresh strawberries with the deep, bittersweet notes of dark chocolate. Perfect for spreading on toast, pastries, or using as a filling in baked goods.

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry Jam:

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fruit pectin (optional, for thicker jam)

Dark Chocolate Addition:

  • 3 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Jam: In a large saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture bubbles and strawberries release juices, about 10–15 minutes.
  2. Use a potato masher or spoon to mash the fruit to desired consistency. Continue simmering for another 10–15 minutes, stirring often until slightly thickened.
  3. If using, stir in fruit pectin and cook for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in chopped dark chocolate until melted and smooth.
  4. Let the jam cool for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to clean jars. Seal when completely cool. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or process for longer storage.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, blend the jam before adding the chocolate.
  • This jam pairs well with toast, pastries, or as a filling for cakes and cookies.
  • Choose high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor balance.
