Description

These Crispy Jalapeño Corn Wontons are a delightful fusion appetizer that combines creamy, cheesy filling with a spicy kick, all wrapped in a crispy wonton wrapper. Perfect for parties or as a fun snack!

Ingredients

Scale

Crispy Jalapeño Corn Wontons Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels (fresh, canned, or thawed from frozen)
  • 1 jalapeño (seeded and finely chopped)
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2024 wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • dipping sauce (optional: sweet chili or ranch)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, corn, jalapeño, green onion, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until fully combined.
  2. Fill the Wonton Wrappers: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Scoop about 1 teaspoon of filling into the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold into a triangle or desired shape, and press tightly to seal, removing any air pockets. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  3. Fry the Wontons: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat (350°F). Fry wontons in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. Serve: Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a baked version, brush wontons lightly with oil and bake at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Add more jalapeño for extra heat or swap in pepper jack cheese for a spicier twist.
