Description

These Crispy Chicken Alfredo Air Fryer Calzones combine tender shredded chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, and a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses inside a perfectly golden, crispy pizza dough shell. Quickly made in the air fryer, these calzones are an easy, delicious Italian-American main course that’s perfect for a comforting dinner. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh parsley for a flavorful finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 pound cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Dough & Topping

  • 4 pre-made pizza dough rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, for brushing

Optional

  • Chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it preheat while you prepare the calzones.
  2. Mix Filling: In a medium bowl, combine shredded cooked chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Roll Dough: Roll out each pizza dough round into a 6 to 8 inch circle on a lightly floured surface to ensure even size and crust.
  4. Assemble Calzones: Spoon equal portions of the chicken Alfredo mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.
  5. Seal Dough: Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch and crimp the edges firmly to seal the filling inside to prevent leakage during cooking.
  6. Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the tops of the calzones with olive oil to enhance browning and crispiness.
  7. Air Fry: Place the calzones in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space between them for air circulation. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the calzones are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Cool and Serve: Carefully remove the calzones from the air fryer and let them cool for 2 to 3 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the calzones to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly brush the bottom of the calzones with olive oil before air frying.
  • Try substituting cooked bacon or spinach in place of chicken for delicious variations.
