Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 2 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare Apples: Peel (optional) and core apples, then slice into fry-shaped sticks. Pat dry with paper towels.
- Coating: Place flour in a shallow dish. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg and milk. In a third dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Dredging: Dredge apple slices first in flour, then in egg mixture, then coat evenly with breadcrumb mixture.
- Air Frying: Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Arrange coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with cooking spray. Cook for 6–8 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Serve warm with caramel sauce, vanilla yogurt, or whipped cream for dipping.
Notes
- For a lighter version, skip the flour and egg coating and simply toss apple slices with cinnamon-sugar before air frying.
- You can also make them gluten-free by using almond flour and gluten-free breadcrumbs.
