Ingredients
Scale
For the Banana Bread:
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas and melted butter until smooth. Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just combined.
- Add nuts: Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra moisture, use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots.
- You can add chocolate chips or swap the nuts for dried fruit if preferred.
- This banana bread also freezes well.
