A classic Caprese Salad elevated with a balsamic glaze for a burst of sweet and tangy flavors. This refreshing appetizer showcases ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Salad:
- 4 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
- 1 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Balsamic Glaze:
- ½ cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for glaze)
Instructions

- Assemble the Salad: On a serving platter, arrange alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella, tucking basil leaves between them. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle the salad with the balsamic glaze. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use heirloom tomatoes for extra color and flavor.
- The balsamic glaze can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
