For the Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small yellow onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
- Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil: In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Cook ground beef: Until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5-6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add peppers and onion: Cook for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Stir in garlic: Cook for another minute.
- Make the sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Pour over beef and vegetables.
- Finish and serve: Cook for 1-2 more minutes until heated through. Serve over warm rice, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based crumbles.
- Use jasmine or cauliflower rice for variation.
- Add shredded carrots or snap peas for extra crunch.
