Ingredients
Scale
For the Bread Bowl and Cheese
- 1 round bread boule (sourdough or any round loaf)
- 1 wheel of Brie cheese
Toppings
- 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Garnish (Optional)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bread bowl and Brie.
- Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the bread boule and carefully hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell. Set aside the removed bread pieces for dipping later.
- Prepare the Brie: Cut the top rind off the Brie cheese wheel, then place the Brie inside the hollowed-out bread bowl.
- Add Toppings: In a small bowl, combine cranberries, chopped nuts, honey or maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Spoon this mixture evenly over the Brie in the bread bowl.
- Bake: Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and bubbly and the bread is toasted.
- Serve: Once baked, garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme if desired. Serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or sliced apples for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute dried cranberries for fresh if unavailable; just soak dried cranberries briefly in warm water to rehydrate if desired.
- Choose any round loaf of bread that has a sturdy crust to hold the melted Brie and toppings.
- Use pecans or walnuts based on preference or availability.
- Honey and maple syrup are interchangeable to adjust sweetness.
- For a more intense herb flavor, add fresh herbs over the top after baking.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the Brie warm and melty.
