Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of fall with this Amish Apple Fritter Bread. A moist, cinnamon-spiced loaf studded with chunks of fresh apples and topped with a sweet glaze, this recipe is a delightful treat for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread:

  • 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 2⁄3 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¾ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk

Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare the apples: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss the chopped apples with 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Make the batter: Cream together granulated sugar and softened butter. Add eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and milk, mixing until just combined.
  4. Layer the batter: Pour half of the batter into the pan. Top with half of the apples and cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake: Bake for 50–60 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  6. Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar and milk, then drizzle over the bread.
